I am a lifelong Shawnee resident and have been married to my husband, Rick, since 1995. We adore our daughter, Jeydan, and our rescue dogs -- a Rhodesian/Shepherd Mix named Casey and a Basset/Shepherd mix named Scout -- along with our rabbit, Disney. My family had a business in downtown Shawnee for 29 years until my father retired.
My educational background includes a Masters degree in Human Resource Development and Organizational Development and a Bachelors degree in Organizational Management and Leadership. I am proud to say I worked full time through school to earn these degrees.
I am a Founding Member of Shawnee's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Shawnee Post 10552, a member of the Optimist Club of Shawnee, a Senior Member of the Civil Air Patrol of Kansas City Composite Squadron #034, and a volunteer for the Shawnee Police and Fire Departments. I am also actively involved in Special Olympics, Adopt-A-Highway, Locks of Love, and church outreach events.
In addition, I am proud to support Operation Christmas Child, Shawnee Community Services, Will to Succeed, United Way, Harvesters, St. Jude's, American Diabetes Association, City Union Mission, Field of Dreams Pet Adoption, Support Our Troops, Salvation Army and Operation Breakthrough.
I currently work as the Publications Director for a non-profit, and I have served on the City Council since April of 2006.
